The Land Ethic has really opened my eyes to things I already knew, but never had a true issue with. I think what is the most disturbing is how humans have taken advantage of the earth for so long now and it is only getting worse. Almost every decision made in regards to the planet (especially harmful decisions), is made with an economic mindset. This is not only disgraceful, but it is extremely dangerous being that the resources given to us by the earth are extremely limited. We will only be able to continue on like this for so much longer until the damage being done to the earth becomes much more apparent. We may not be able to see it, but it is certainly there and is only getting worse.
I chose this image of the sunset because there is nothing made my humans in sight. Looking out into the water is my favorite thing to do because it is so endless and real. Sure there are structures built that are beautiful, but to me there is nothing more beautiful than the earth in its purest form completely unaltered by humans. It appeals to every sense and looking out into the water is sure to leave anyone speechless and tranquil, full of gratitude for our earth.
